GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas -- A new kitchen is on the way for Meals on Wheels Texoma thanks to a generous donation from a local company.
The non-profit was presented with a $100,000 check from Tyson Foods, Inc. The donation will go towards building a new kitchen to make meals for those in need throughout Cooke, Grayson and Fannin counties.
So far this year Tyson Foods has donated 60,000 pounds of protein, feeding thousands of families in need across Texoma.
Executive Director Greg Pittman says this shows Tyson's commitment to the community.
"A single central kitchen will help us reduce our food cost significantly, ease our administration burden and it will ultimately help us feed more people," said Pittman.
The kitchen is in the planning phases. The money donated benefited 22 organizations in total.
