Thunderstorms later this afternoon and overnight may produce some hail and gusty winds to possibly 60 mph....locally heavy rainfall and lightning. The storms should steadily weaken as they move eastward...so your risk of a severe storm is higher to the east and lower to the west.
ATOKA COUNTY, OKLAHOMA -- New information Monday afternoon from The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation about a park ranger-involved shooting.
OSBI says a McGee Creek State Park ranger shot and killed a man in the Buster Hight Area when he attempted to run over the ranger Saturday night.
Earlier in the evening, OSBI says campers were complaining that a man -- David Adam Patrick Maher of New York -- was acting strangely and causing a disturbance.
When a ranger approached him, Maher allegedly ran to his vehicle and attempted to run over the ranger.
OSBI says the ranger then shot him "at least" one time.
Maher was taken to Atoka County Medical Center where he later died.
OSBI is continuing to investigate.
