UPDATE: Cause of Ladonia fire that killed deputy and wife "undetermined"

LADONIA, TEXAS -- Texas fire marshals have determined the cause of the Ladonia house fire that killed a Collin County sheriff's deputy and his wife back in February.

Jerry Hagens with the state fire marshal's office says the cause of the fire is ruled as undetermined.

He says the damage was so extensive that they cannot determine a specific cause; however, there is no indication that it was deliberate.

Hagens adds that their office has requested a report on lightning strikes from the storm that hit Fannin County the night of the fire.

The victims, Rebecca and Richard Fields, were buried in February.
