POTTSBORO, TEXAS -- Hagerman's attempt to control invasive feral hogs left 200 of those hogs dead.
We told you last week that Hagerman has been having issues with the hogs destroying refuge wet lands.
To combat that, they hired predator controllers to shoot the hogs from a helicopter.
Kathy Whaley with Hagerman says those 200 hogs that were taken out could prevent 1,800 piglets from being born.
Hagerman was not able to donate the hog meat because they weren't tested for diseases that hogs typically carry and transmit.
Whaley says the meat was eaten in about two days by animals on the refuge, like coyotes, bobcats, and vultures.
