Honey Grove church fire caused by lightning strike

FANNIN CO., TEXAS -- We now know that lightning sparked the fire that destroyed a century-old church Sunday.

Honey Grove Police Chief Mark Johnson says between 4:50 and 5 a.m. Sunday, lightning likely struck the top of Main Street Presbyterian Church in Honey Grove, igniting the blaze.

The church was built in 1902, housed an antique pipe organ and dozens of stained glass windows.

The pastor says they plan to rebuild, hopefully on that same lot.
