DENISON, TX - Experts say planning an affordable wedding in an unstable economy can get complicated, but they say some couples are getting creative to make it work.
Seth Greenwood and Kristyne McKoy are planning their own wedding.
"We figured if we do it our own way, the cheap way, we'll be able to save money while we're getting married." said Greenwood.
And planner, Jennifer Reeves, says they're not the only ones.
"Brides and grooms are coming in and trying to do a little bit more on their own, and not so much like going to the venues that used to do like the full packages." said Reeves.
Reeves has been in the wedding business for years.
She says these days, more couples are turning to the internet for ways to create their dream wedding, without breaking the bank.
"The funny thing that I'm finding is that brides are very interested in pinterest right now." Reeves said.
"Actually pinterest has been the most help." said McKoy.
McKoy turned to the popular website for money saving ideas, and friends like Emilee Bizzle are helping to bring them to life.
"Today we're doing a zombie themed, kind of an engagement kind of thing, we saw it on pinterest, and we thought it'd be really fun and silly." said Bizzle.
"Seth and Kristyne are my friends so when they called in this favor I had to oblige." said friend, William Norman.
The future newlyweds say friends and family are also helping with invitations and decorations, and since they're both big baseball fans, they chose The Texas Rangers as a fun and easy theme.
"It's going to be a bunch of blue and red everywhere, she's still going to have a white dress, but all the food will be designed like ball park food, so we're going to have peanuts, popcorn, nachos, hotdogs, all that stuff." Greenwood said.
With a little creativity, and a little help they hope to have a truly fun and memorable wedding.
"Our family and our friends have been so great, so I think with their help we'll be able to have pretty cheap, awesome wedding." McKoy said.
