Van Alstyne City Council proposes water workshop

VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- The Van Alstyne city manager says they're working to come up with a solution for residents who are angry about water rate hikes.

Frank Baker says at last night's council meeting citizens presented a petition asking council to repeal the new, higher water rates and to refund them the difference in their bills, since the time those new rates took effect.

The city council voted to hold a workshop to talk about the problems and try to come up with a solution.

Baker says there's no easy fix, since they've already set the the budget for next year, and reducing the water rates would affect the budget.

No date has been set for the workshop.
