Several rounds of thunderstorms through Saturday will have the potential to produce flooding rains, and a few isolated hail cores or strong winds are possible. Never drive into flooded areas...turn around, don't drown!
VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- Several fire departments worked to put out a house fire in Van Alstyne Monday night.
Fire Lieutenant Ryan Dockery says a home on the 400 block of Tooley St. caught fire around 7:30. He says no one was home when the flames ignited. Dockery says he believes the fire started in the kitchen. At this time, it is unknown how badly the home is damaged. Firefighters say thankfully they were able to get the blaze under control quickly.
"We were able to keep the fire confined to the kitchen and then with our mutual aid agreements we were able to have some extra help come in and get the fire knocked down and hopefully saved the structure," Dockery said.
The Van Alstyne Fire Department is investigating the cause of the blaze.
Anna, Tom Bean, Howe and Gunter fire departments all responded.
