Two upper level waves will interact with a warm and very moist air mass to generate thunderstorms through Saturday. Lightning and torrential rainfall that could cause flash flooding are the primary threats...with a secondary threat of damaging winds. Turn around, don't drown!
VAN ALSTYNE, TX - Multiple fire departments responded to a house fire in Van Alstyne Thursday morning.
Around 10:30 a.m. the Van Alstyne Fire Department got a call saying a house on Whitaker road was fully engulfed in flames.
We're told the house is believed to have been vacant.
Firefighters say their initial concern was protecting exposure to a propane tank next to the house.
We are told the wind and heat were both factors that made it difficult to contain the fire.
"The wind was pretty heavy out of the South and it was a factor during our defensive attack. It was extremely hot, we did have to rehab our fire fighters quite a bit," said Lt. Ryan Bockery with the Van Alstyne Fire Department.
Still no word on what might have caused the fire.
Van Alstyne, Howe, Gunter, and Tom Bean Fire Departments responded.
