Van Alstyne man arrested for burning a dog

VAN ALSTYNE, TX -- A Van Alstyne man is behind bars after police say he burned a dog.

Morgan Wentz was arrested at the Sonic Drive-In in Van Alstyne when people witnessed him put out his cigarette on a dog's nose and then kick the animal.

Van Alstyne police arrested him for cruelty to a non-livestock animal -- which is a felony.

He is being held on $10,000 bond in the Grayson County Jail.

Police say they have the dog in their custody.
