Wapanucka officials hold town meeting on water issue

WAPANUCKA, OK - Wapanucka city officials plan to meet again on Tuesday night to discuss the city's water issues.

The city went without water for nearly a week after their spring dried up.

Last night residents and officials met at city hall, to try to come up with a solution.

Several community members suggested the city connect permanently to Atoka's water supply but officials say they will need to apply for grants or loans to build a water line.

State Representative Charles McCall got involved and says it's possible for Wapanucka to get state funding fast because it's an emergency.

Oklahoma Rep. Charles McCall said, "most cities have issues with water, it's come to the point with the city of Wapanucka where they're out of water and so we need a quick resolution to the situation to restore service to the residents, citizens here."

If you'd like to attend Tuesdays meeting it's set for 7pm at the Wapanucka City Hall.
