Winter weather hits Texoma

9:52
DALLAS (AP) - Southwest Airlines has resumed flights at Dallas Love Field after early-morning delays blamed on ice and snowy conditions.

The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a winter weather advisory for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Hundreds of flights were grounded or delayed in North Texas due to the winter weather.

Dallas-based Southwest suspended operations for about two hours at Love Field but restored its regular schedule by shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

A spokeswoman says American Airlines and American Eagle canceled 343 flights Tuesday at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport before conditions started improving.

TXDOT public information officer Tray Turner: TxDOT forces have been out this morning focusing on the current winter weather across North Texas. TxDOT will be working throughout the day to ensure our roads remain passable and safe. Particular attention is given to bridges, high traffic interchanges and roadways. We are using snowplows, salt spreaders and liquid de-icing rigs to assist with de-icing/anti-icing of the roadways and bridges. We are currently focusing on using the granular de-icing materials to improve traction on the roadways. If travel can be avoided please stay off the roadways, bridges and roadways will freeze overnight and remain slick.

Paris – Hwy 82, Hwy’s 271 North and South is the worst of the roadways at this time.

Bonham – Hwy 82 is our main concern and focus.

Clarksville, Cooper, Sulphur Springs, Mt. Vernon, Sherman and Emory – All areas are covered and extreme caution is advised when traveling.

Greenville – I-30 is slow moving.

TXDOT: "All roads in Grayson County currently have 1/2" or more snow and ice accumulation. Travel is slow and bridges are slick."

Numberous accidents have been reported on US highway 75, according to emergency radio broadcasts.

Grand Street overpass in Sherman CLOSED. City says they are currently checking other bridges/overpasses around town.

Traffic is moving slowly this morning on US75 between Denison and Sherman.

Emergency responders say the FM120 overpass in Denison over US75 is becoming slick and hazardous.

US75 northbound over Ray Yards (just N of FM120) is always a concern during winter weather.
