WYNNEWOOD, OK -- One person is dead and another had to be flown to an Oklahoma City hospital after an explosion of some sort at the Wynnewood Refinery, according to the Garvin County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Larry Rhoades says the public is not in danger, and first responders have the scene under control.

The medical examiner is on the scene investigating.

OSHA will reportedly be out to investigate tomorrow.

The refinery, located at 906 S. Powell St., remains open.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers closed state highway 17A and US 77 for about two hours while emergency personnel worked in the area.

Those roadways are now reopened.

The American Red Cross of Central and Western Oklahoma sent volunteers to the refinery to help emergency responders.
