Caney begins cleanup, investigation, after train derailment

Updated: 10/24/2008 - CANEY, OK ― A train derailment in Caney, Oklahoma, late Thursday night forced the most of the town’s residents to evacuate. About 400 people, many of them elderly, in the small Atoka County community, were evacuated. On the train were ethanol, argon, and diesel. Authorities said Friday morning it was safe for residents to return to their homes, and officials have now begun the cleanup process.
