If you would like to help out the flood victims in Cooke County, the American Red Cross is taking donations at 1608 West Highway 82 in Gainesville. You can reach them at 940-665-5591. They will be providing food for all volunteers and victims on Saturday.

The Quality Inn in Denton has just replaced their box springs and mattresses and have their older ones free to whoever needs them. Call Hector at the Quality Inn in Denton at 940-387-3511 for more information.

The Commerce Street Church of Christ in Gainesville is assisting victims. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The Salvation Army is offering a canteen lunch Wednesday at the Archer Street Apartments at 1950 West Pecan in Sherman.

They will take pets on a case-by-case basis. Red Cross is at this site and providing meals to residents. As of Wednesday, they can take 50 more individuals to stay.

Starting Thursday 6/21, the fixed feeding site will be at Albertson's on Taylor St. in Sherman. Lunch will be at 12 p.m. and dinner between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. They will also begin to provide case work on medical needs only and give referrals for food and clothing. The Red Cross will call and update us tomorrow.

Food and other items:

The Salvation Army will provide a Visa debit card in the amount of $100 per person. Head of household must provide proof of rental with a lease agreement and bring in Social Security cards and IDs for each family member. Home owner must bring in a bill, gas or electric that has his or her name on it with the owner's address. Salvation Army will contact landlord for proof of flood. They can purchase anything they need with this card. They can also get a voucher for the Salvation Army store to purchase clothing.


AT&T has offered to suspend phones for flood victims so that fees will not be charged. 903-821-3668. Contact Mr. Hynes.
