Posted: 10:05 AM Apr 9, 2012
Reporter: By: Ardmore Beautification Council

The Ardmore Beautification Council and the Ardmore Tree Board will give away 500 trees on Tuesday evening, April 10, beginning at 5 p.m., at Ardmore Regional Park, 2704 N. Rockford Road. The program is open to municipalities, churches, businesses, schools, nonprofits, chambers of commerce, and residents in south, central Oklahoma. The trees are being offered through a partnership with The Tree Bank Foundation and The Apache Foundation and will be free.

According to ABC executive director Norma Lynne Paschall, “This is a program that will provide trees to people in Southern Oklahoma. It will allow them to replace trees lost during last summer’s drought. Planting and tree care information will be provided to the recipients.”

Trees will be in 3-5 gallon containers, approximately ¾-1” in trunk diameter. Trees will be approximately 5’ in height depending upon species. The species list includes Maples, Black gum, Chinese Pistache, Swamp white oak, Willow oak, and Lacebark elm. The trees will be given out 5 per vehicle on a first come, first served basis.

Those with questions may contact the ABC at abc.ardmore@sbcglobal.net or call 580-223-2230.
