Oklahoma House approves storm shelter liability bill

OKLAHOMA - Lawmakers in Oklahoma are asking Governor Fallin to okay a bill that could potentially save more people from severe weather.

Oklahoma State Representative John Enns (District 41-R) authored the so called "good samaritan storm shelter bill".

The measure would eliminate liability for anyone providing access to a safe place during severe weather.

The bill passed 89-2 in the House today.

It now proceeds to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin's desk for signing.

"We made it a broad spectrum bill which covers all individuals, all business owners, everything across the board for not only tornado or high wind, but snow storms and floods or whatever," Rep. Enns said.

The bill will take effect as soon as Governor Fallin signs it into law.
