GAINESVILLE, TX-A trial date has been set for the step-grandmother of a Gainesville boy, who died after suffering severe burns that were never treated.
Matilde Alexander is set for trial October 22nd on charges of first degree felony injury to a child. Poole also said Matilde's husband, Johnny Alexander, faces the same charge and will also be tried that same day, but separately from his wife.
Four-year-old Nathan de Alejandro was found not breathing in his mother's home last September. If found guilty, Matilde and Johnny Alexander could face up to 99 years to life in prison.
Nathan's mother, Catrina Maldonado, and her boyfriend, Johnny Alexander, are also facing charges.
