OKLAHOMA CITY - Penalties for poaching on private land in Oklahom are going up, thanks to a new law signed today written by local State Representative Pat Ownbey.

The law states poachers will lose their hunting and fishing licenses for repeated violations. The fine for first-time offenders varies from $500-$1,500. Punishment for a second offense would be $1,500-$2,500 or six months in a county jail.

The law also removes a requirement that property owners post a 'No Hunting' or 'No Fishing' sign.
