Gainesville residents participate in festivities to be "most patriotic"

GAINESVILLE, TEXAS -- One Texoma town could have a new claim to fame.

Gainesville is a finalist for the "most patriotic small town in America." The competition is hosted by Rand McNally and USA Today.

Tonight, residents kicked off their "pedaling for the medal" event; riding bikes to let everyone know about the contest. There will also be a parade and a free ice cream social.

City officials encourage you to come out, wear your red white and blue and share what makes Gainesville the "most patriotic small town in America."
