Denison Hosting Tennis Camp

Posted: 8:09 AM May 31, 2012

The Denison Yellow Jackets are hosting a summer long tennis camp that will begin on the first week of June and run through the middle of August.

The camp will be held at the Smith Tennis Center in Denison and will be directed by Denison head tennis coach Tom Faulkner. Tennis players from age 8 to college level are welcome to attend.

Beginning classes will be instructed with the fundamentals of stoke development and proper technique. Match play, tactics, movement, and sportsmanship will be strongly developed. Age ranges for the beginner classes are 8-12. Cost per week for the beginner classes is $40 and students will meet 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) from 9am-10am.

Intermediate and advanced classes will be divided into appropriate skill levels. Players will be exposed to all types of match play situations and stroke development. This will promote the student’s ability in placing the ball, agility, endurance, change of direction and reaction time. Cost per week for the intermediate and advanced class is $80 and will include a private lesson. This class will meet 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) from 10am-Noon.

For more information, or to register for the camps, contact Denison tennis coach Tom Faulkner at JacketTennis@cableone.net.
