SHERMAN, TX-A local man partnered up with Sherman Fire Department to help collect donations for firefighters battling wildfires in West Texas.
Jeremy Fontaine and Sherman firefighters collected water and cash donations at Sam's parking lot Saturday. Shoppers brought over cases of water as soon as they finished buying their groceries. Fontaine said he just wanted to help the firefighters and those affected by the wildfires.
"If anybody hears anything that needs to be done out there, just try to do as much as you can. There are 150 people or so who lost their homes just in the one area around Possum Kingdom. There's a lot of work that needs to be done, " he said.
So far, over 600 cases of bottled water have been collected...and about 4-thousand dollars in cash.
