If you want packages mailed to our soldiers, you'd better get to the post office today!
Tuesday, Dec. 4, is the last day that the US Postal Service guarantees that First Class and Priority Mail will reach members of the military with AFO/FPO addresses in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The deadline is still a week away for most other overseas military locations. Packages and cards should be sent by Dec. 11 for arrival by Christmas. Express Mail delivery will still be available for delivery by Christmas to most overseas military locations if you mail by December 18.
As for holiday deadlines within the U.S. by regular mail, send holiday cards, letters and packages going to U.S. destinations by December 20 for delivery by Christmas. For holiday mail going to other international countries, the general deadline is Dec. 11. The exceptions are for Africa and Central or South America. Those deadlines are Dec. 4. Express Mail to U.S. and international destinations is also available after these dates for delivery by Christmas.
