This week's A+ Athlete is John Rouse from Dickson High School. This senior, known as “Hawk,” is a man of many talents. He's one of the best offensive linemen in the state, winning the Outstanding Lineman Award for District 2 in Class 3A. He is also a powerlifter, placing fifth in the state last year and a member of the Ardmoreite Super Team.
Unlike most athletes, he's in the band and is a member of the Elite "Show Case" Choir. Outside of school, Hawk is an active member of the Faith Southern Baptist Youth Group. With all he has done at Dickson, he certainly won't forget his experiences.
Hawk didn't just get through it, he excelled. This student-athlete is just as strong in the classroom as in the weight room. He ranked third in his class with a 4.07 grade point average. On top of his regular schooling, he also attends the Regional Oklahoma School of Science and Math in Ardmore. Hawk knows all of this has only prepared him more for the next level.
Congratulations to John on being named this week’s A+ Athlete.
We'll introduce you to another A+ Athlete every Friday here on First News AM. School officials, coaches, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to send in your nominees.
