Sen. Hillary Clinton appears on First News AM

Democratic presidential candidate Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton joined our own Lisanne Anderson via satellite this morning on First News AM.

On her health care initiative….

“I’ve done a lot of work on rural health care, starting in Arkansas all those years ago, and what I’m going to do is provide quality, affordable health care to every single person in America.”

“I’m going to take my record of bringing health care to rural Arkansas and rural New York, and we’re going to bring it to Sherman and rural Texas.”

On the war in Iraq….

“It’s going to take a president who is will start bringing them home within 60 days, which is what I’ve pledged to do. I think it’s one of the reasons why I won Oklahoma overwhelmingly. Oklahomans, like north central Texans, are patriotic people, lots of folks who are in the service or have been in the service. You’ve done everything you were asked to do. You’ve performed admirably, heroically. We’ve lost too many of our sons and daughters, but there is no military solution, it is up to the Iraqis, and the sooner we make them responsible, the better off they will be.”

On 'Get Out the Vote'...

“I feel good about the campaign. We’ve got people working across Texas. Everybody does have to get out, and it’s a two-step process. You’ve got to vote and go to the conventions, and I appreciate your vote.”

KXII-TV has extended invitations to Barack Obama, John McCain, and Mike Huckabee to join us to discuss the issues. We will try to interview all those candidates as the race continues.

To Anonymous Overseas...perhaps you need the history lesson. I believe Roosevelt along with an actual Declaration of war by Congress, and the courage of our military took care the Japanese. In fact, that was the last time we fought in a declared war, and the last time we attacked a country that had attacked us. Iraq did not attack the US. Neither did Korea, North Viet Nam, Greneda, etc etc. On 9-11 we were attacked by a bunch of religious zealots, and they didn't come from Iraq. We have spent far more $ and time in Iraq than we did in all of WWII! Not withstanding the BS that got us into Iraq, our forces overwhelmed their army and we got rid of Hussien. THOSE were the stated objectives going in. WE WON! We don't need to stick around, and make Iraq the 51st state. They have had over 4yrs to get their S#%^ together, there's another 10 months before our new Pres is sworn in, and it will take another yr to withdraw. The Iraqis need to get the message, not 100 yrs of occupation.

Opinionated in Ardmore - you mean the economy is getting worse because my husband and I BOTH work a full and a part time job? Just think - I thought working our @sses off was 'doing what it takes' to get ahead. We make too much for any kind of help, not enough to not worry about $3 a gallon gas - rising grocery prices - and tuition for our kids. Let's see - because McCain was a POW, we have freedom of speech. He must be older than I thought. I thought we had the freedom of free speech because of the constitution. The statement “they want to penalize those who do by taxing them unfairly” is the biggest crock of all. Everyone should pay the same percentage of tax on what they make – that is only fair. You have the right to own opinion - as ridiculous as it is - in my opinion.

To ME in Sherman: The poor get poorer because they don't want to do what it takes to get ahead. That is why they like democrats in power. Because democrats want to give them money for doing nothing. And they want to penalize those who do by taxing them unfairly. Republicans want them to work for their money. And just remeber that if it weren't for people like McCain, you wouldn't have the right to voice your opinion like you do.

Under the first Bush the rich got richer and the poor got very poor. We all remember the bad recession we had his last year in office. Now under the second Bush he has put this country into poverty with his national debt. He has made the rich so wealthy that they are looking for places to hide their money. He has lowered the middle class to the working poor class. The poor have move to the poverty level. Also just like dad he has pushed us into a recession and who knows where it will bottom out at. Depression ??? All of you people who plan to vote republican need to ask yourself if you are better off now than 8 years ago. I will bet the answer is no. I WILL NEVER VOTE REPUBLICAN AGAIN.

To I care in Sherman... I checked out the website you cited. It appears to indicate the stupid falsehoods that have been spread about Obama being a Muslim, being sworn in using the Quran etc. are marked with a red dot (meaning FALSE). The one about him being pictured not saluting the flag is marked with a green dot (meaning True). If THAT is what concerns you, be advised, that standing respectfully with out hand over heart has always been a perfectly acceptable posture during the playing of our National Anthem. Re: your Bible warning, the books of the Bible were written by people who were living in the area to which WE refer to as the "EAST". East of there might be India, east of there, Japan, east of there, California. In other words, every place is east of somewhere. You are mingling American 21st century perspective with ancient religious text just to support your political preferences. By the way, I've read the Bible, but I must have missed the part about true Americans.

The people who dont know WHAT this war is about, you are the scarriest of all. It is not just a war, this is a war for our very existance.Obama or Hillary can not, nor will they pull our troops out in 60 days.Which is a misleading statement in itself. They know what you ,the uninformed, want to hear, but even they know that we have to win this war.Obama doesnt have a clue what to do about anything, he is just a speech maker. Two years in the Senate. What is he qualified to do ? has he been a governor? No, has he been a mayor?no,has he been the head of a big corporation?no,so where does he get this experience I hear about? Do you really want a gas station attendant(oh yea their extinct) running the most powerful country in the world? He has to make decisions and make deals with people that dont like us and never will and are bound by their Bible to kill us,dont forget the RUSSIANS.Listen to your candidates REAL carefully.baby arm

From the East doesn't mean Hawaii or Kenya. read the bible again. He will rise in the Eastern Countries. So that means he will not be born in the USA, come on people. Go Hillary.

Please go to www.snopes.com and read the facts about Obama before you throw Hilary under the bus. The bible warns us that a man from the East will be charismatic in nature and have proposed solutions for all of us and his rhetoric will attract many supporters. But when he has control, he will destroy every true American. Read the facts people!!! Read the bible instead of throwing it out the door.

I am so disappointed that people are so negative about the candidates and election process. Disappointed that people are talking taxes instead of taking care of our elderly and young. We can have a balanced budget, we can have healthcare, we can have respresentation. We have to be active and reasonable. Research important issues instead of rumors and trash talk. There is a reason that Hillary talks about solutions, it's because she has them. She also is capable of following through. "Vote American" is right. We aren't voting for 'american idol'. We are voting President of one of the most powerful nations in the world. Hillary Clinton can and will get it done.. without ripping anyone off and with compassion for people. Taxes are high but spending appropriately we can improve our lives without increasing taxes.
