Trees will soon be having caterpillar issues. A proactive step is to release a beneficial insect called trichogramma wasp.
Many types of worms or larvae of moths and butterflies eat the buds, leaves of flowers and lots of food crops and ornamental plants.
You can spray them with BT (bacillus thurilugiensis) or orange oil products. This should be a last resort.
A better solution is to release trichogramma wasps as a preventative. They come on a 1â€ square card. About 3,000 eggs.
Nothing works better for control of canker worms, army worms, loopers, pecan case bears, tent caterpillars, web worms and other vegetarian worms.
Be sure that where you are releasing the wasps that there are no ants present. The ants will eat the wasps. A product that you can use to help control ants migrating towards the wasps is Tree Tangle Foot.
