Waylon just to let you know I brought your grandfather into my office and let him listen to you on my computer,he was tappin his finger and smiling. I just saw Waylon Henley on Prisonbreak Season 3. He does not even look like he did on the news. I've seen him act on stage and sing and I have never seen someone as passionate for his art as Waylon. He was blessed with the look and the drive to be a performer. His Dadddy played with Waylon Jennings and that's how he got his name. I agree about James Ramsey. He was not the person I went to see, but I thought he did very well and I would be upset if I was him. Waylon is good, but on Saturday night, James Ramsey had a better performance. Was anybody else upset about them talking to Sara when she got on stage? I do not think it was fair for them to start talking to her and teasing her when they did not say anything to the other contestants. My vote will go to Shelley. I thought her performance was amazing. i was very up set at the way the show went last night. there were at least 35 people who came to hear james ramsey sing, but it did not seem to help,he was very good .i donot know what the judges were looking for. the ones they picked were good ,but not better than him. [ Report Abuse ]

I have seen Valarie Maier perform all over the place. SHE IS AWESOME!!!! I see that she has a few more fans now. I have not seen her since 2003. I am looking forward to following her career again. I have seen her on Johnnie High, with Vance Vance and the Valiants, at Billy Bob's, at the Denton fair, and at many oprys from Houston to Sherman. I am a long time follower of hers!! I appreciate your comment Valarie. This IS about having a great time and sharing your gift with others. Our goal for 10 years at the showcase has been just about that. We offer a venue that allows performers to use their talent, gain exposure, and experience performing with a live band in a family friendly atmosphere. Everyone should remember...there are a lot of people following this contest that do not have a friend or family member in the finals..they just love music! Everyone in the finals should be proud. This is supposed to be fun! I am a contestant and I am going to go out there and have FUN! I personally have no desire to be "famous" or a "professional" in that sense. However, I do believe that God gave me a talent and I am called to share it with others and I enjoy doing just that. I am not concerned with who wins so long as everyone entered gets a fair shot. I live in a small town over an hour away and it is not likely that many people I "know" will be there. I also know I won't have the most votes, but the 5 people I bring will be proud of me no matter what! They are proud I have made it this far! That is what this is about for me! I have in my possession a letter from Marty Rendleman of RMG that states that Stephanie Early is not signed with their label. They did produce her CD, but she is under NO contractual obligation to the company. It has been removed from the RMG website that she is signed with Red Hen Records. What everyone should understand is that most of these performers ARE pursuing a career in music. They enter this and other contests in hopes that it will open doors for them. I would just like to say that having a manager and a deal does not make one "PROFESSIONAL". In my opinion professionalism comes with experience. So in that respect, I would say that WAYLON HENLEY is as professional as anyone that sings there on a regular basis. I think he is one of the best the contest has to offer. Nancy...I am looking into your comment. I went on the website and found what you are talking about. I know Marty Rendleman. She has been around a long time in the management business. I am not familiar with the label. I have spoken with Stephanie's family who assures me she is NOT signed with the label. I have asked for documentation and for it to be removed from the website if she is truly NOT signed. As for the song that Bill Mack gave her...that happened years ago when she was a little girl singing at local opry's. That would not disqualify her. It does not state that the preliminary winners will be interviewed. It says they will be promoted and listed. The statement above makes reference to both groups...prelim winners and finalists. The prelim winners of each round are announced via the morning show before they are posted to the website. As we get closer to the finals, more morning and noon show segments will show all the photos as a reminder of our prelim winners. The top 3 FINALISTS will be interviewed on air when their performance footage is shown. Remember the viewers only vote on their favorite from the top 3 finalists in each category. Entertainers are not allowed to enter the competition if they are signed to a major record label. No one in the competition has a record deal. Anyone can have a CD if they want to pay for it. This does not disqualify a contestant. Men have always been allowed to wear nice jeans. In recent years the rules have changed to allow women to wear jeans if paired with an appropriate performance top. This is to keep up with the trends of today. We always encourage entertainers to look their best. You may have read a set of older rules. If so, I apologize. However, appearance is only a portion of the overall score. You need to hold contestants in the Show Case Show Down accountable to the rules. ("NO BLUE JEANS")! A contestant can't wear "blue jeans" according to the rules; however, there are 1st place winners who wore blue jeans for their performance. READ YOUR RULES! Have the finals been changed to a different date??? Main Streets website says OCTOBER 18th and 25th now??? What & Why?? I won a round and already have family and friends flying in on Sept 20th to watch me in finals! They cannot rearrange airline tickets :( When is someone going to contact the singers to let us know if the finals dates have changed and WHY?? P.S. I am one of the finalists who's pic is not up on the website. No one asked me to stop for a photo, but they took plenty of me on stage that they could use, or someone could ask me to send one in. The audience does vote. So bring people with you. I competed in the showdown July 12th and won my round of fifteen and under (My name's Jacob Irvin). Yes, speaking to one of the earlier commenters, there were three winners that night. One from my class and two from the 16 and above class. The audience vote counts for only 30% of your overall score. So it can't really be called a popularity contest. The finals for 15 and under will be held on September 13th. 16 and above will be July 20th. There will be some amazing talent at both shows, so make sure to show support for your favorite contestant!! [ Report Abuse ]

Please post photos and name of the new winners. We all want to know who we will be watching at the finals September 20th. Does anyone know how they do the audience vote? My daughter will be singing soon and I want to know if I should try and bring a bus of people or if at least some of the audience is not there for one particular person. I am afraid the audience vote will make it a popularity contest rather than a singing contest, and my daughter is great but not from the area. By the way the audience responded it was obvious who the entertainers were and who I would buy a ticket to see sing again live. Brittany/Waylon That is my opinion. Anyone that was there agree?

Please understand that this was a LOCAL competition! It's about who had the BEST VOICE. Tara Wilson and Britany Cranford were the best of the best in the 15 & Under category. While all 3 were good in the 16& up, my vote was for Shelly....she was more....consistent. BUT, people remember...it was a local competition, it wasn't Nashville Star....get over it!

These posts that are trying to drag down contesants and those contestants that won are rediculous! All of the contestants had great talent. This was a local competition if I understand correctly. Therefore, why are people getting so upset and brutal to those who won/ made finals. If you don't have anything encouraging to say then don't post it! I'm happy for Sara, and would have been happy for Waylon or Shelley too had they won!

I've seen Waylong perform live. There is no beter unsigned talent in Texa or Oklahoma. You should be proud that he is in the top talents in you contest.
