Macy's officials said a system error caused debit cards to double bill. This affects customers who used debit cards the Saturday (12/20) before Christmas between the hours of 1:00pm and 2:45pm.
Store officials are not sure how many customers may have been affected.
Macy's said Tuesday (12/30) they have corrected the problem, contacted banks of customers that were over-billed and are working to resolve any additional bank charges.
Most shoppers had no idea the double billing had happened at all. If you get an overdraft due to double billing, fax your bank statement to
Macy's at 513-573-2433. Customers need to write 'Attention Third Party Credit' on the bill.
Customers can block their account number and still get the overdraft charges corrected.
Clint Hall had double billing issue happen to him with a different company and had a tough time getting it straightened out.
Hall says the steps Macy's is taking should make the issue easy to correct.
The double billing affects Macy's Central and Eastern regions, which has 489 stores in Texas.
