Sausage Bread
Place 1 1/4 cups warm (110 degrees) water in a large mixing bowl.
Add 1 t. lemon juice
1 t. salt
1 T. sugar
2 T. margarine (softened)
3 cups plus 2 T. Bread Flour
2 1/4 t. fast rise yeast
Mix together. Place on floured board and kneed until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover with towel and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
1 lb. hot breakfast sausage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
1 C. cheddar cheese
1 C. Jack cheese
Brown sausage with peppers and onions in skillet over med. heat. Drain.
Roll dough into a 16 X 8 "rectangle. Spread sausage mixture down center. Evenly spread cheeses over sausage. Cut sides of dough in 1" intervals. Fold ends down over filling and press to seal. Begin braiding by stretching strips across to the other side. Continue with all strips tucking the last one in to seal. Transfer to baking sheet sprayed with pam.
Brush with egg white. Cover with towel and let rise 45 min. Bake in 350 oven for 30 min. or until golden brown.
Tip: You can use frozen bread dough from your grocers freezer. Thaw according to package directions. Roll out as instructed above.
