The Durant High School Drumline is hosting an exciting first-time event for the Drumline and Downtown Durant. The Durant Drumline Challenge will be held this Saturday, September 12, on Market Square at First and Evergreen.

The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. when each drumline will march in to an introduction. Individual lines will then perform their show, and they can play anything they wish. Each will have a 15-minute time slot.

Schools attending include Lone Grove, Antlers, Sallisaw, and Paris North Lamar. Durant High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University will perform exhibitions. Awards will be given after the finale.

Tony Tiger, Durant High School Drumline instructor, hopes to make this an annual event that can grow. He and Alan Gray of Whitesboro ISD will adjudicate the event. Tiger appreciates the support for the festival from the local community.

The band boosters will have a concession at the event, and shirts will be available as well so attendees can support the Pride of Durant.

For more information, contact Durant High School or the Durant Main Street Office at 580-924-1550.
