Chef Angie: Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray or butter an 9x9" baking pan.

6-8 fresh apples (Gala's or Granny Smiths)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

juice from 1/2 lemon

1/2 cup granulated sugar

Peel, core and slice the apples. Place in mixing bowl with next 4 ingredients and mix well. Dump apple mixture into prepared pan

Mix together well with fingers or pastry blender until all is incorporated and crumbly:

1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

1 cup all purpose flour

12 tablespoons butter (softened to room temperature)

Pack this mixture on top of apples. Bake in preheated oven, uncovered 45 min. - 1 hour. (Top should be browned and apples tender when you stick them with a fork)
