It's a Labor Day party and you want to add something more healthy than the usual cookout fare, but no one seems to want a fork!
Try the salad on a stick for a vegetable option. Have a small pitcher or squeeze bottle of dressing, and you have a portable salad.
While it may be the 'official' end of summer, nutrition should never take a vacation!

Iceberg Sticks
2 fat carrots, sliced diagonally
1 cucumber, sliced diagonally
Head of iceberg lettuce
1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
1/2 cup prepared dressing
Directions
Thread the carrots, cucumber, lettuce and tomatoes onto 6 long wooden skewers, alternating the vegetables.
Refrigerate; serve with the dressing.
Herbed Buttermilk Dressing
1 cup low fat mayonnaise
1 /2 cup low fat buttermilk
2 teaspoons minced green onions (1 onion)
1 teaspoon fresh basil
1 teaspoon fresh parsley
1 clove minced garlic
1 /4 teaspoon black pepper
1 /4 teaspoon salt
1 /2 teaspoon paprika
Mix all of the dressing ingredients together in a bowl with a whisk.
