GAINESVILLE, TX---One texoman has created a new website designed to help children trick-or-treat on Halloween.
You may have seen this You may have seen this Verizon commercial on TV lately. The idea is that the new product being advertised can help find the best or worst spots when trick-or-treating on Halloween. Well Gainesville resident Chad Bolinger has created a new website with the exact same concept.
"We looked on the app store trying to see if we could find something for when I take my kids trick-or-treating this year, and there's just nothing there, so we decided, what the heck, we'll make our own." said Bolinger.
The website is called trick-or-treat house rater. Residents post their address and the type of candy they will give out on a website, and Bolinger compiles them in a list. He says the website can be a treat in itself.
"I would have loved this when I was a kid, if this would have been on my black and white Nokia though I probably wouldn't have been very lucky." said Bolinger.
While the website can be very helpful, there are residents who are hesitant.
"There are those bad situations where the people that should not be around children and things like that can get onto the app and your kids could possible come up to their front door." said Spivey
"You never know, anybody can look up an app, anybody could be using the app, anything could happen." said Lunkley.
"I like the whole idea that you walk the streets, you have all the neighborhood kids, and you get to see all of your neighbors." said Phillips.
For kids the website could provide a key to the doors that have the greatest candy find ever, and so residents say if you're going to use it, make sure you're being responsible.
"Supervised is can be a fantastic thing, but I think it has to be on the parents too, on letting them decide which houses to go to." said Spivey.
"Be careful what you post, because anyone can see it." said Bolinger.
