Many spring events are on the horizon at the Sherman Parks and Recreation Department. Theresa Hutchinson, the Recreation Manager, stops into the studio to talk about upcoming events.

The mission of the City of Sherman Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance the quality of life in Sherman by providing the finest parks, facilities, programs and services in the area.

Champions Softball Camp

The Champions Softball Camp is designed to introduce the basic elements of skills and proper mechanics for our youth Softballers. Fielding, hitting, throwing & base running will be the four areas of techniques concentrated on. The Champions Coaching Staff: Jimmy C. Rosser ? Techniques in stance & hitting, Mike Ramsey ? Techniques in hitting & fielding, Jerry White ? Techniques in pitching, and Angela White ? Pitcher @ Stephen F. Austin. This Camp will be broken into four age divisions: 5-7, 8-10, 11-12, and 13 & older

When: March 22nd, 23rd, 24th

Time: March 22nd (7:00pm-8:30pm)

March 23rd (7:00pm-8:30pm)

March 24th (9:00am-11:00am) (1:00pm-3:00pm)

Location: The Quad ? Old Settlers Park ? Fields 6 & 7

Cost: $60.00 Per Athlete (Must have a Minimum of 20)

Deadline: March 19, 2012

Flashlight Egg Hunt

Have you ever hunted for eggs in the dark? Candy filled eggs are waiting to be found and look hard for the ?Special ? eggs that will earn you prizes. The Flashlight Egg Hunt is for kids ages 10-14 years. Meet at Pecan Grove Park East at 8:30pm on Friday, March 30. Please bring your own working flashlight. Pre-registration is required so sign-up at the Sherman Youth Center by Tuesday, March 27.

Exploring the Fine Arts

Learn about the benefits of creative drama through pantomimes, role playing and much more! Instructed by the theater department of Austin College you?re sure to have a great time! Plus a Pizza Party!

Learn to Swim Registration

Swim season is right around the corner. Registration for the Learn to Swim program at The Splash will begin for Sherman residents on April 2. Non-residents may register beginning April 16. The cost this year is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Class information, including times and dates may be picked up at the Youth Center.
