"64 pints of blood were collected," said Deedee Morehead
Director of Donor Resources at Texoma Regional Blood Center. "49 at the Sherman Fire Department and 15 at the Blood Center. We are grateful to those who came out today to help in saving lives as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy. Because one pint of blood can save 3 lives, then 192 patients will benefit from today’s blood drive! That is a tremendous gift to our community!

A representative from an Austin College organization shared this message to KXII on Monday in regards to the Tuesday blood drive, "9/11 is a day we all remember and that saddens us. But what if instead of reliving those moments of terror, we honored this day by doing something positive for our communities. Here at Austin College, we have an organization called H.E.A.T. It was established to promote awareness and service in the Humanitarian, Animal and Environmental issues. Tomorrow we will visit the local Fire Department and show our appreciation."
