Save Family Report: Spotting Poison Ivy
Abby Dunn

06-22-06 - Now that summer time is here, people everywhere are enjoying the great outdoors. However, experts say 85% of us are susceptible to outbreaks from plants like poison ivy.

Poison ivy grows in almost every state in the U.S., even here in Texoma. It’s important for everyone to know what it looks like so it can be avoided.

Also be aware of that bug bites can keep you scratching. To avoid this, you should wear long sleeved clothing, long pants and closed toe shoes. Try to avoid wearing any fragrance, like scented lotion or perfume.

Before you head outside, make sure you apply sunscreen at least thirty minutes before. You should consider keeping it on hand in case you need to re-apply later.

Also, be sure you have a first-aid kit ready to go.

With a little preparation, the summer can be fun for the entire family
