ADA, OK - A wanted fugitive from California described as a violent bank robber by the OSBI was caught Thursday morning in Ada, where he had been hiding out at his uncle's apartment.

This began with a bank robbery in Laguna Hills California, three months ago. One of the suspects involved in that robbery, 35-year-old Rashad Lamar Branagh, got away, but this morning he was taken into custody in Ada.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation received information that Branagh was hiding out at his uncle's apartment in the 700 block of East 16th in Ada. When Branagh left the apartment Thursday morning an OHP Trooper stopped him on a a federal bank robbery warrant, and the OSBI says agents descended on the area to make a quick arrest.

Branagh and two others robbed the California bank at gunpoint on May 13th and sped off in an SUV. California state trooper pulled the SUV over, and Branagh fired several shots at the trooper. No one was injured, and two of the suspects were taken into custody later that day.

Branagh was taken to the Ada City Jail, and then moved to a federal facility later today. He has previously been arrested for murder.
