MARSHALL COUNTY, OK - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the body of a camper missing since Tuesday afternoon was found about 75 yards from Lake Texoma around 7 o'clock Wednesday morning.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports 53-year-old Jimmy Allen Boulton of Tishomingo left his campsite in the Fobb Bottom Area of Lake Texoma and reportedly swam out to a boat, refused to enter the boat, and then swam back to shore. A passing boater last saw Boulton on shore 9:30 Monday night.
Boulton was then reported missing after his vehicle was found unoccupied around 3 p.m. Tuesday, and a massive search effort ensued. OHP Lake Patrol, the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, and Marshall County Search & Rescue all tried to locate Boulton until darkness forced the search efforts to cease Tuesday night.
Marshall County Undersheriff said Tuesday their main concern was the heat, as it was approximately 110 degrees in the wooded area. Three rescuers and a search dog succumbed to the heat Tuesday afternoon, and had to be rescued themselves.
Just after 7 o'clock Tuesday morning an OHP Trooper located Boulton's body about 75 yards from the shoreline. OHP is investigating his death as a drowning.
