Grayson Co. Commissioners vote to renovate jail
SHERMAN, TX - Grayson County Commissioners have decided to move forward with renovating the existing jail Commissioners voted unanimously to sign a contract with Wigington Architects to design the jail.

SHERMAN, TX - Grayson County Commissioners have decided to move forward with renovating the existing jail Commissioners voted unanimously to sign a contract with Wigington Architects to design the jail.
It will add more beds and make better use of the space already available at the jail. Sheriff Keith Gary says this is a step in the right direction because the county's variance with the Texas State Jail Commission will be up next February, and they needed to take action to get that variance extended.
"This is what democracy is all about. We argue, we disagree, and then we come around to an agreement, and that's what's happened today. I think we can be very proud of our commissioner's court. They've studied the issue and they've realized we need to get on with this," Sheriff Gary said.
Sheriff Gary hopes construction will be underway by next February.
