SHERMAN, TX -- Today marked the first day back at school for Texas students.

Sherman ISD superintendent Al Hambrick visited all of the campuses today to see how the first day was going and offer support to faculty and students. But he's also warning drivers to pay extra attention in those school zones at all times.

"Just be cautious because kids are in the area, and that is not only at the beginning of the day or the end of the day but that's also in the middle of the day because especially at some of our schools we may have some students who are for whatever reason released early or have to go to the doctor," Hambrick said.

Back to school also means no hand-held devices like cell phones while driving in a school zone.
