SHERMAN, TX - "At 9:54 this morning Sherman Police received a call from someone going by saying they saw the top of the trailer," said Lt. Bob Fair of the Sherman Police Department.

When Sherman first responders received the call Tuesday Morning of a vehicle in Post Oak Creek, they had few details to go on. They arrived to find a fatal accident that somehow had gone unnoticed for perhaps hours, along with a serious environmental spill.

"There is fuel leaking into the creek, they are trying to get that stopped so there is a cleanup effort underway as well," said Fair.

First responders with the help of wrecker crews worked for hours to recover the body of the driver 30 year old Jesse Jerry Jr. of Arlington. Jerry was found pinned in the cab of the truck, which was underneath the trailer in the bottom of the creek bed.
Police still aren’t sure what caused the accident on North Bound highway 75 or even when it happened.

"His last know location had been in McKinney at around 4:42 this morning," said Sgt. Bruce Dawsey.

It is now up to the Sherman accident recreation team to try and piece together what caused the crash.

"There is no indication that he hit his breaks at all, so we will start from there," said Dawsey.

U.S. Highway 75 north bound was shut down at FM 1417 for a time so that wreckers can get the truck out of the creek. Sherman Police reopened Highway 75 around 1:30 p.m.

This is the same area where a tragic tour bus accident killed 17 people in 2008.
