DENISON, TX - Former Denison High School football standout D.J. Jones was arrested early Tuesday morning for domestic violence and evading arrest.

Denison police say around 2 a.m. a vehicle pulled up in front of the police station, and a civilian employee walked outside to find Jones assaulting his girlfriend. They say Jones ran off, and called someone to pick him up. Officers stopped the vehicle and say he took off running again. He was found a short time later hiding in some bushes and was arrested.

His bond is set at $2,500 on a charge of assault and $1,500 for evading arrest.

Jones and Texas A&M parted ways earlier this summer after he accepted a scholarship to play football in College Station in February.
