Escaped inmate caught near McLeod Correctional Facility
ATOKA, OK-- Officials at the Howard McCleod Correctional Center say an inmate who escaped from the facility Wednesday was caught near the prison Thursday afternoon.

ATOKA, OK-- Officials at the Howard McCleod Correctional Center say an inmate who escaped from the facility Wednesday was caught near the prison Thursday afternoon.
Officials say Jeremy Hughes was apprehended around 1:30 p.m. by officers of the HMCC Escape Team approximately 3.5 miles southeast of the facility. They were assisted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Team, the Pushmataha and Atoka County Sherriff Departments, and the McGee State Park Ranger.
OHP along with Atoka and Pushmataha County Sheriff's deputies used search dogs to scour the area Wednesday night.
It's unknown how 32-year-old Jeremy Hughes escaped the Correctional Center. Hughes has an extensive criminal background including several larceny charges, child abuse, concealing a stolen vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon.
