Crews Assessing Ivan’s Damage

Video will be available shortly.

9-17-04 - PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A sheriff in Florida's Panhandle says it was like a wall of water hit houses and spit-out all the stuff inside.

Damage from Hurricane Ivan is put at anywhere from three to ten billion dollars and that's on top of the billions in damage from hurricanes earlier this summer. One Florida handyman says "people are sick of it."

Ivan slammed into the Gulf Coast yesterday causing grief all the way from Florida to Louisiana. At least 23 people were killed. Hundreds of thousands are without power.

Ivan is now just a tropical depression but is unleashing heavy rains as it treks up through Tennessee and the western Carolinas. People are being evacuated from homes along rivers.

A Florida tourism specialist says he fears for the future of summertime tourism.
