United Way kicks off fundraising season
SHERMAN, TX -- The United Way of Grayson County kicked off their fundraising campaign for this year with a number events in downtown Sherman on Saturday.

SHERMAN, TX -- The United Way of Grayson County kicked off their fundraising campaign for this year with a number events in downtown Sherman on Saturday.
A 10-K, a 5-k and a fun run began in the morning. Then music, vendors and activities sprawled across the court house lawn until late in the afternoon.
The event was held to kick off the United Way's fundraising season which runs until mid November. More than 20 local agencies are supported by the United Way, including Habitat for Humanity, CASA and Four Rivers Outreach Center.
KXII-TV, Cigna and several other local businesses helped sponsor this year's event.
UPDATE:
Organizers say Saturday's 10-K. 5-k and fun run raised more than $1,000 in registration fees. That's not counting the money raised with pre-registrations, so organizers are definitely calling the campaign kick-off a success.
The agency is hoping to raise $1.3 million this fundraising season.
