New Grayson Co. district clerk to assume office early
GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - The Grayson County District Clerk is stepping down sooner than expected. At Monday's commissioners court meeting, district clerk Tracy Powers told commissioners that her last day in office would be September 30th.

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX - The Grayson County District Clerk is stepping down sooner than expected. At Monday's commissioners court meeting, district clerk Tracy Powers told commissioners that her last day in office would be September 30th.
Powers did not seek re-election, and was to be replaced by Republican primary winner Kelly Clark Ashmore in January. There was no Democratic candidate for the position. Ashmore has agreed to begin her new role as Grayson County district clerk early, starting on October 1 this year.
Ashmore says she's already busy preparing for the job.
"There's just, as you can imagine, all types of things you need to get lined up before you take office on the first, so just going around and seeing what all needs to be done," Ashmore says.
Ashmore would have taken office on January 1 if Powers had not resigned.
