Trucker "Person of Interest" in Murders

9-18-04- Nebraska officials say a truck driver suspected of beating and raping an Oklahoma City woman is a "person of interest" in a string of homicides in six states. Ten woman have been murdered at truck stops in six states since July 2003.

Oklahoma authorities maintain that they have NO evidence linking
Carl Wayne Lawson Of Lincoln, Nebraska, to cases in Oklahoma,
Pennsylvania, Indiana, Mississippi, Texas or Arkansas. But they say
the case that led to his arrest Tuesday is very similar.

Lawson is jailed on a three million dollar bond. Lincoln police arrested him Tuesday. He's been charged with beating, strangling and raping a 51 year old woman he met at an Oklahoma City truck stop on Sunday.

Since July 2003, there have been ten homicides and one assault that authorities suspect could be connected to the Lincoln case.
