10-11-04 – A woman in Ardmore attempted to purchase sandwiches using two counterfeit one-hundred dollar bills at the Love’s Travel Stop on I-35. The store clerk noticed the fakes before they got back to the bank, but the woman left before police could question her. Police in Ardmore have worked over 10 cases of counterfeit money over the last three months.

Police say they are close to making arrests and warn that it is important for citizens to be aware of the fake bills since so many are being passed around. A simple way to check for fake money is to hold it up to a light and look for a magnetic strip.
