10-15-04 – The federal government is urging states to prosecute companies taking advantage of the flu vaccine shortage by hiking prices. Some vaccines are reportedly being sold for 10 times more than they should.

In Florida, 2 price gouging suits have been filed against Meds-stat one. The company has denied any wrongdoing. The CDC is combating price gouging by shifting supply. Price gouging is a state issue and is not illegal in some states. On the federal level, fraud or conspiracy charges would have to be use since over charging is not against the law.
