Restaurant Burns Down

Video will be available shortly.

11-27-04- A popular restaurant burned down Saturday morning in Whitesboro after 30 years in business. The owner of Don's Barbecue on Highway 377 north of Whitesboro lost not only his business, but also his home.

Darren Stone has managed the restaurant for two years, the latest in a long line of family to run the family business. He also lived next door. Moments after Stone opened the restaurant Saturday morning, he noticed flames coming from an inside wall. Stone went across the street to call for help.

Five fire departments fought the fire for more than four hours, but high winds caused the flames to spread to Stone's home next door. Both the business and the house are total losses.

Family members say they will rebuild the restaurant, but will not be able to replace the memories.

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
